GraceHaven Takes Gateway Of Grace To Mississippi

God has swung yet another gate wide open for GraceHaven. Earlier we thought God was going to lead us back to Peru Thanksgiving week. But, our Heavenly Father knew other wise. He has laid it on our hearts to go south, south to Mississippi. We have a lot of brothers and sisters down there that are really struggling.
We have connected with Arlington Heights Baptist Church, led by Pastor Ben Carlisles in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He shared with me that they have received very little help from the government and that they would greatly appreciate any assistance we could offer. There are so many things that need to be done. I can't say exactly what we will be doing, only God knows that. It is still a month away so I am staying in touch so that closer we will have a better idea.
The main thing as with any mission trip is to be very flexible. We always plan before we go, but it is when you get there that you find out exactly why you are there. We want this to be a team that God has put together. We want everyone including you to be open and PRAY to see if He is calling you to go. It doesn't matter whether or not you have any special skills. If He is calling He has a reason for you to be there. He doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called.
Maybe He truly isn't calling you to go. We want to ask you all to please bath this trip in prayer. Also our Heavenly Father may be laying it on your heart to support this trip financially. It is very difficult to get supplies in the devastated area. We are hoping to take as much as possible with us.
We have opened a special account to handle these funds. Any donations are totally tax deductible and should be made out to Katrina Fund. You will receive a year end receipt for tax purposes. We need to purchase the supplies, haul them there and be self-contained while there. We don't want to be a burden to them while trying to help.
The Pastor shared that they have facilities for us to stay in, including showers and cooking. The only expense while there is food, which we intend to take much of it. One thing is for sure, anytime God calls you to a mission He provides everything needed.
There is a bunch of worn out people down there. God laid Thanksgiving week on my heart because one, it's time for some fresh troops for a week, two you don't have to take a whole week of vacation, three we can give up our holiday to make someone else's brighter and finally we will be following the Word by loving our neighbors as ourselves. Again, please everyone, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY and be open to what God is calling you to.
